Financial Assistance Available for Manhattan Township Residents and Businesses Impacted by July Storms
Residents and businesses in Manhattan Township, Will County, are now eligible for financial assistance from the federal government following the severe storms that hit the area from July 13-16. President Biden has signed a Major Disaster Declaration, allowing FEMA to provide Individual Assistance programs to those affected by the extreme weather.
Individuals and businesses can apply for grants for temporary housing, home repairs, low-cost loans for uninsured property losses, and other recovery programs. Will County Executive Jennifer Bertino-Tarrant expressed gratitude to Governor Pritzker for requesting the federal declaration and to President Biden for ensuring support for the community.
Residents and business owners can apply for assistance through www.DisasterAssistance.gov or by calling the FEMA Helpline at 800-621-3362. Multilingual operators are available to assist with applications. Will County Emergency Management Agency Director Allison Anderson encourages all those who suffered property damage to apply for assistance.
In addition to FEMA assistance, the U.S. Small Business Administration is offering low-interest disaster loans to businesses and residents. Businesses can borrow up to $2 million for repairs and replacements, while homeowners can receive up to $500,000 for real estate repairs and up to $100,000 for personal property damage.
Will County EMA will be working with FEMA to open Disaster Recovery Centers to provide on-site assistance with applications. Updates can be found on www.WillCounty.gov. The community is urged to gather necessary information before applying for assistance, including contact information, addresses, social security numbers, and damage details.
The federal assistance aims to help Manhattan Township residents and businesses recover from the devastating storms and rebuild their lives. The community is encouraged to take advantage of these resources to aid in the recovery process.
