SBA Announces Fall Events for Women Entrepreneurs in Washington, D.C., and Florida
The U.S. Small Business Administrator (SBA) Isabel Casilas Guzman has announced exciting news for women entrepreneurs across the country. The federal agency, along with Women Impacting Public Policy (WIPP) and American Express (AMEX), will be cohosting two events this fall in the Washington, D.C., area and Florida as part of the 2024 National ChallengeHER road tour.
The events, scheduled to take place at George Mason University on Oct. 10 and in Fort Lauderdale on Dec. 3, aim to provide women-owned small businesses with access to federal contracts and opportunities to grow their revenue by selling to the U.S. government. According to Jackie Robinson-Burnette, Associate Administrator for SBA’s Office of Government Contracting and Business Development, ChallengeHER has already helped over 26,000 women-owned small business owners achieve success in the federal marketplace.
The ChallengeHER initiative focuses on bringing more women-owned firms into the federal government’s supply chain and encourages participation in the SBA’s Women-Owned Small Business (WOSB) Federal Contact Program. By providing education, resources, and matchmaking events, ChallengeHER aims to empower women entrepreneurs and advocate on their behalf in the federal marketplace.
Angela Dingle, President & CEO of Women Impacting Public Policy, expressed gratitude for being a national partner in the program, which has supported nearly 26,000 women-owned small businesses over the past 11 years. The Biden-Harris Administration has also made significant strides in supporting women-owned small businesses, exceeding its FY23 small business contracting goal and awarding an all-time high of 28.4% of federal contract dollars to women-owned small businesses.
Jessica Ling, executive vice president of Global Brand Advertising at American Express, emphasized the importance of supporting ChallengeHER and providing women-owned businesses with opportunities for growth and success through access to contracts and connections. The upcoming events in Washington, D.C., and Florida are sure to be valuable opportunities for women entrepreneurs looking to expand their businesses and thrive in the federal marketplace.
