Fresh Coffee and Fresh Ink: Hartford’s Unique New Storefront at 95 Pratt St.
The new storefront at 95 Pratt St. in downtown Hartford is making waves with its unique combination of a coffee shop and a tattoo parlor. Refuge Tattoos owner Yaritza Garrido had the idea to create a space where customers could enjoy a cup of coffee while getting a tattoo, enhancing the overall experience. Thanks to $160,000 in funding from the “Hart Lift” city grant program, Refuge Tattoos and Beans of Parkville Coffee Roasters (BOP) were able to make this dream a reality.
The community investment in small businesses in Hartford has been growing, with more than 60 new shops opening in recent years. Mayor Arunan Arulampalam is excited about the vibrancy coming to the city, and believes that Pratt Street has a special energy and excitement.
For BOP owner Jack Sullivan, the grant money allowed him to expand his coffee roasting business and create a unique atmosphere for customers to enjoy. The grand opening of the storefront on April 19 drew in Java lovers who were eager to experience the combination of coffee and body art.
