Calling Young Northumberland Entrepreneurs: Apply for the “My Future My Career” Kids’ Entrepreneurship Program Today!
Calling all young entrepreneurs in Northumberland County! The Business & Entrepreneurship Centre Northumberland (BECN) is once again offering the “My Future My Career” kids’ entrepreneurship program, providing children and youth aged eight to 14 with the opportunity to launch or grow their own businesses this summer.
Participants in the program will receive business guidance and a small micro grant of up to $500 to help cover their business expenses. The program aims to support young innovators, creative minds, and kids with a passion for entrepreneurship in pursuing their dreams of owning and running their own businesses.
“The My Future My Career program has already helped 32 youth begin their entrepreneurship journey since its launch in 2021,” said Kailyn Coupland, Northumberland County business development co-ordinator. “Children who participate will have access to free support to help launch or grow their business and will have the opportunity to showcase their business at our youth entrepreneurship showcase at the end of the summer.”
The youth entrepreneurship showcase, hosted by Staples in Cobourg, is set to take place on Wednesday, August 14, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Community members are encouraged to attend and show their support for the young business people participating in the program.
To apply for the BECN’s “My Future My Career” kids’ entrepreneurship program, interested children can complete an online application by June 18 at northumberland.ca/en/becn/kids-business-start-up-program.aspx. Successful applicants will be notified on June 21, but due to the availability of funds, not all applicants will receive a micro grant.
