Young Bang Keynotes Potomac Officers Club Event: Army Emphasizes Industry Collaboration for Tech Advancements
Young Bang, principal deputy assistant secretary of the Army for acquisition, logistics and technology, recently delivered a keynote address at a Potomac Officers Club event, emphasizing the importance of collaboration between the U.S. Army and industry to accelerate the adoption of new technologies. Top Army officials have highlighted artificial intelligence, counter-drone systems, and long-range precision fires as key focus areas for the Department of Defense.
Bang, a former Booz Allen Hamilton executive and recipient of the prestigious 2024 Wash100 Award, has long championed public-private partnerships. He emphasized the value of bringing together industry leaders and government officials to exchange ideas and leverage each other’s expertise.
The Army’s initiative, Project Linchpin, launched in 2022, is driving the integration of AI into weapons, tools, and missions. Bang revealed that the Army has engaged with over 250 companies and collected valuable insights through requests for information, paving the way for significant investments in AI through the Small Business Innovation Research program.
In addition to AI, the Army is exploring partnerships in electronic warfare, loitering munitions, predictive logistics, and maintenance, among other areas. The service branch is committed to enhancing operational readiness rates to support military operations effectively.
The upcoming 2024 Army Summit, hosted by the Potomac Officers Club, will feature Bang and other Army representatives discussing strategies to expedite the delivery of critical capabilities to warfighters. The event promises to be a valuable networking opportunity for government contracting professionals looking to collaborate with the Army on cutting-edge technologies.
