Small Businesses in Michigan Thrive with FHLBank Indianapolis Elevate Grants
The FHLBank of Indianapolis is making a big impact on small businesses in Michigan through its Elevate Small Business Grants program. Thanks to a $20,000 grant, Mushroom House Tours in Charlevoix was able to expand its capacity with new electric, open-air trams, providing visitors with a unique and memorable experience.
Owned by Edith Pair, Mushroom House Tours offers guided tours of the iconic mushroom houses built by Earl Young in the 1920s through the 1960s. These whimsical homes, made of indigenous materials like boulders and rocks, have become a popular tourist attraction in Charlevoix. With the help of the Elevate grant, Mushroom House Tours was able to purchase an additional GEM car for tours, as well as invest in a virtual tour option and souvenir inventory.
The grant not only helped Mushroom House Tours survive during the challenging times of the COVID-19 pandemic but also allowed the business to thrive and grow. Pair expressed her gratitude for the grant, stating that it saved their company and enabled them to expand in ways they never thought possible.
In addition to Mushroom House Tours, other small businesses in Michigan, such as The Poke Bowl in Flint, have also benefited from the Elevate Small Business Grants. These grants, provided by FHLBank of Indianapolis, aim to support small businesses in reaching their full potential and contributing to local prosperity.
Through programs like Elevate, FHLBank of Indianapolis is playing a crucial role in fostering economic growth and innovation in small communities throughout Indiana and Michigan. By empowering small businesses to succeed, these grants are helping to create a more vibrant and resilient economy in the region.
