Empowering Women Entrepreneurs: Introducing the Fund Her Future Small Business Grant Program
“Empowering Women Entrepreneurs: H&R Block Launches Fund Her Future Grant Program”
National Small Business Week is shining a spotlight on the vital role of America’s entrepreneurs, particularly women-owned small businesses. With an estimated 13 million women-owned businesses in the U.S., employing nearly 10 million people, it’s clear that women entrepreneurs are a driving force in our economy. However, despite their significant contributions, women-owned businesses face financial disparities compared to their male counterparts.
To address this funding gap, Jamil Khan, Chief Strategy and Small Business Officer at H&R Block, has launched the Fund Her Future small business grant program. This initiative aims to provide support and resources to women-owned businesses, helping them achieve their goals and make a positive impact in their communities. With a total of $100,000 in funding available, the program will award grants to five women-owned small businesses, with the first-prize winner receiving $50,000 and a year of small business services from Block Advisors.
Businesses that promote inclusivity and demonstrate community impact are encouraged to apply for the Fund Her Future grant program. Submissions are open until May 26, 2024, and applicants must be over 18 years old and own a U.S.-based business that is at least 51% women-owned. The program aims to level the playing field for women entrepreneurs and provide them with the resources and support they need to succeed.
The funding disparities between women-owned and men-owned businesses are evident in recent studies, with women-owned businesses receiving funding at a lower rate and facing challenges in loan sizes, earnings, credit scores, and interest rates. By providing immediate access to capital, resources, and expertise, programs like Fund Her Future can help women entrepreneurs grow their businesses and contribute to the overall momentum of their communities.
As National Small Business Week celebrates the contributions of entrepreneurs, initiatives like the Fund Her Future grant program play a crucial role in supporting and empowering women entrepreneurs. By addressing financial barriers and funding disparities, these programs create a more inclusive and supportive environment for small business owners to thrive and succeed. Through opportunities like the Fund Her Future grant program, women entrepreneurs have the chance to access the resources and support they need to make a lasting impact on their businesses and communities.
