Massachusetts Businessman Pleads Guilty to Misappropriating COVID-19 Relief Funds
Jesse Lelievre, a Massachusetts businessman, has pleaded guilty to misappropriating COVID-19 relief funds for personal use. Lelievre, the owner and manager of Paramount Plumbing & Heating LLC, obtained a loan through the U.S. Small Business Administration’s Economic Injury Disaster Loan program meant to help businesses affected by the pandemic. Instead of using the funds for his business, Lelievre redirected approximately $180,000 for personal expenses, including purchasing a diamond ring and remodeling his home.
The charge of theft of government property carries a sentence of up to 10 years in prison, up to three years of supervised release, and a fine of up to $250,000. The sentencing is scheduled for December 19, 2024. Acting United States Attorney Joshua S. Levy, along with officials from the FBI and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs Office of Inspector General, made the announcement.
