Kickapoo Business Receives Grant to Improve Quality of Care
Kickapoo, Illinois – Peter Rabbit Day Care in Kickapoo received a much-needed boost this week as it was awarded a grant from the Federal Home Loan Bank Chicago. The grant, presented in the form of a giant check, will allow the woman-owned small business to make improvements to enhance the quality of care it provides to the children under its watch.
Co-owner and Director Holly Hayden expressed her gratitude for the support, noting the financial strain that comes with running a small business. “It’s always a burden trying to come up with money for upkeep and updates. We’re constantly having to replace equipment in the rooms and stuff, so to have this kind of money is really exciting,” Hayden said.
The nomination for the grant came from Princeville State Bank, with Vice President of Retail and Business Michelle Webster emphasizing the importance of supporting small businesses like Peter Rabbit Day Care. “Small businesses mean a lot to us. They are probably our bread and butter. To keep them going is important. They also keep us going. If you think about it, it’s a full circle,” Webster said.
The daycare, which has been operating for over 30 years, plans to use the grant money for renovations such as shelving, flooring, toys, and improvements to the outdoor play area. These upgrades will not only benefit the children in their care but also contribute to the overall well-being of the business.
