Disgraced consultancy PwC and Scyne Advisory awarded $138 million in federal government contracts

**Title: Scandal-ridden PwC and Scyne Advisory Secure $138 Million in Federal Contracts**

In a shocking revelation, it has been uncovered that the disgraced consultancy PwC and its offshoot Scyne Advisory are currently handling a total of 46 federal government contracts valued at a staggering $138 million. This news comes in the midst of the tax leaks scandal that has plagued PwC Australia in recent years.

Following the scandal, PwC Australia made the decision to sell its “government consultancy” business, consisting of 1,400 partners and staff, to private equity group Allegro Funds for a mere $1. The business was then rebranded as Scyne Advisory. Figures obtained from the Department of Finance in response to a Senate inquiry into consultancies reveal that Scyne has inherited existing federal government contracts worth $111 million and has been awarded new contracts amounting to $14.4 million.

Despite the controversy surrounding PwC, it has been disclosed that PwC Australia still holds 10 active contracts with the federal government, totaling $12.6 million, including a significant $11.3 million contract with the Australian National Audit Office (ANAO).

However, questions have been raised about the transparency of these contracts, as Finance has failed to fully disclose all current contracts with PwC and Scyne, only providing information available on the government tender registry AusTender. This raises concerns that the actual value of these contracts may be much higher than reported.

Furthermore, it has been revealed that Finance has been in frequent contact with PwC Australia officials, meeting with them 16 times in the past year. This comes amidst ongoing investigations by the Australian Federal Police and the government’s Tax Practitioners Board into PwC Australia’s actions.

The Senate inquiry into consultancies recently published an interim report titled “PwC: The Cover-up Worsens the Crime,” which criticized PwC for failing to address ethical issues. Despite this, Finance has entered into agreements with PwC, allowing them to resume federal contracts as of December 1, 2024.

As the scandal continues to unfold, questions remain about the ethical practices of PwC and Scyne Advisory, and the extent of their involvement in federal government contracts. The final report from the Senate inquiry is eagerly awaited to shed more light on this ongoing controversy.
