Building Digital Solidarity: The State Department’s Approach to Cyber Collaboration and Global Alliances
The United States is taking steps to strengthen its relationships with allies in order to navigate the ever-evolving geopolitical landscape. With the increasing importance of cyber technology in global conflicts, the U.S. Department of State is focusing on building a network of cyber allies to address threats in cyberspace.
The State Department recently published the U.S. International Cyberspace and Digital Policy Strategy, which aims to create a secure and rights-respecting digital future. The strategy outlines key opportunities and challenges in the digital realm, including cyberattacks, competing internet norms, threats to internet freedom, challenges of the digital economy, and AI technologies and governance.
To combat these threats, the State Department has identified four action areas: building a resilient digital ecosystem, promoting compatible digital governance, establishing norms for responsible state behavior in cyberspace, and supporting international partners in setting digital policies and expanding cyber capacity.
Companies interested in contributing to the achievement of digital solidarity can learn more at the upcoming GovCon International Summit. The event will feature discussions with experts from the State Department, including Laura Cressey and Nicholas Hasko, who will share insights on key programs and initiatives. Attendees will have the opportunity to connect with executives leading global government contracting efforts and learn how they can get involved in promoting digital solidarity.
