Upcoming Congressional Events and Hearings: Funding Deadline, Tax Reform, and SBA Accountability

As the deadline for federal government funding looms closer, House Republicans have announced a continuing resolution to prevent a government shutdown. However, last week they pulled the resolution from the House floor without a vote. House leadership is now aiming to have the measure considered this week in order to avoid any disruptions in government operations.

In the Senate, the Banking Committee is set to hold a hearing on Wednesday regarding the macroeconomic impacts of potential tax reform in 2025. This comes after a previous hearing by the Senate Finance Committee on tax avoidance and preparing for the upcoming tax debate. Interestingly, the credit union tax status was not mentioned during the previous hearing, except in a study linked from a footnote of written witness testimony.

Additionally, the House Small Business Committee will be holding a hearing on Wednesday titled “Holding the SBA Accountable.” This hearing will feature testimony from Small Business Administration (SBA) Administrator Isabel Casillas Guzman.

With important discussions and decisions taking place in both the House and Senate this week, it is crucial for lawmakers to come to agreements and make progress on key issues to ensure the smooth operation of the federal government. Stay tuned for updates on these developments.
